The Name Porahu

The name Porahu is unique and can not be found in any Maori dictionary.

 As with other Maori words in the same context, the name Porahu in its true sense refers to each of the following.

1. Land of peace and tranquility
   As many of us have experienced
2. Land of survival
   As Kaura and those before him have treasured
3. Unforgiving Land
   Where tranquility in an instant is at the mercy of the forces of nature, often experienced during winter months. This unfortunately claimed the lives of three infants at the Porahu Guy, Berlin and Kaura.
